Technology Company Unveils a New Social Network for Martial Artists
North Vancouver, British Columbia September 17,
2008—ChampionsWay, one of the largest Martial Arts Software
companies in the world, unveiled its new community offering today.
Riding the popularity and power of social networking sites, ChampionsWay
has created a social networking site that allows those in the industry
to come together to connect and collaborate.
The project, which began as a concept in 2004, was
the brainchild of VP of marketing Saeed Ashrafinia who quickly saw the
benefits of communities that were seemingly popping up everywhere on the
internet. As with ChampionsWay’s MAS solution, he saw a direct need in
the industry for a Martial Arts centric community that brought together
Martial Artists from all walks of life to share their own stories and
relate to others in similar situations.
“The internet as it was 4, 5 and even 10 years
ago was nothing more than a huge cache of information. People would go
the internet, search for whatever information they were looking for and
then be done with it,” remarks Ashrafinia. “At the onset of the
internet, e-mail and crude versions of chatting software were the only
social interaction channels available over the internet. Today,
innovators have taken social communication on the internet to a whole
new level. You can virtually connect with anybody in the world.”
ChampionsWay’s Martial Arts Community hopes to
bridge the gap between Martial Arts businesses and practitioners around
the world, but also bring them all together into a single, interactive
space on the internet—much like Facebook.
“I guess you could call our community the Martial
Arts Facebook. What we are finding now is that there is no real martial
arts community on the internet and any social interaction is fragmented
between forums and discussion groups that aren’t properly focused or
organized on just building a stable and growing community. When we go to
conventions and trade shows we’re amazed at the enthusiasm we see with
both clients and non-clients in interacting with one another whether it
be just catching up or collaborating on business. What people are really
looking for is a chance to speak with other people who are in a common
situation and share the same common goals and endeavors” says Jon Malach
Vice President of ChampionsWay.
The community gives users the traditional
abilities of conventional social networking sites such as the uploading
of photos, music, and blogs but is unique because it also has a strong
business feature embedded within its framework. The community promotes
business to business collaboration and offers Martial arts owners and
instructors access to hundreds of articles, business and marketing
instructional videos, but most importantly it allows users to connect
with some of the most well-known business consultants in the industry.
