Name: Connor Patrick Quinn
Age: 9
Challenge: Mauled by 2, 140 pound Rottweilers on
December 29th, 2006.
Connor Quinn, a normal, healthy nine year old boy who lives
in Washington Township New Jersey, was savagely attacked and
severely mauled by two adult Rottweilers on Friday December
29, 2006.
Connor was dragged around for 25 minutes before police
arrived. His friend called 911 and Connor’s mother, who came
in the family car with his younger brother (5) and sister
(2). Unfortunately his brother and sister witnessed
the entire incident, although from the safety of the
vehicle. The second she arrived, his mother ran to Connor’s
rescue, but at 100 pounds was only able to drag one of the
140 pound dogs off of her son at a time, and as she pulled
one off, the other would run back and continue mauling
Connor.
Police eventually arrived, and after striking the dogs with
batons didn’t work and shooting the animals was ruled out,
they maced the dogs (and Connor’s mother) before pulling the
animals off.
Connor was seriously disfigured as a result of this savage
attack, with over 150 stitches to his face alone. He will
require many corrective surgeries and physical therapy for
years to come.
This 9 year old martial artist is a
testament to the strength and fearlessness that martial arts
can instill in a young person. Not only did he fight the
dogs off for 25 minutes, but when he was in the hospital he
told his Sensei, Nick Dougherty, "Don't worry. My body's
strong and I can't wait to get back to karate!"
Connor’s Father, Steve Quinn, has devoted his life to
helping others as a public servant. Steve is a full time
fireman and paramedic for the local community and has saved
countless lives in his 16 years of public service.
This giving and caring family is in a serious crisis!
They need your help in order to care for Connor during his
long road to recovery.
Mr.
Quinn will have to take a leave of absence from work in
order to care for his family. Please open your hearts to
Connor and this very special family in their time of need.
A Benefit Fund has been established for Connor and his
family with Wachovia Bank. The name of this Fund is
"Connor Patrick Quinn Benefit Fund"

At ChampionsWay we understand that following such a tragedy,
some people may have some bad feelings towards the
attackers. Due to this we would like to clarify that it is
not the fault of the Rottweilers, it is the owners that
didn’t take the time and effort to train and socialize their
animals.
“In
the hands of a responsible owner, a well-trained and
socialized Rottweiler can be a reliable alert dog and loving
companion. A poorly trained or untrained Rottweiler,
however, can be destructive, and if allowed to run-at-large
may pose a significant physical threat due to its size and
strength. In general, Rottweilers are fond of children, very
devoted, quick to learn, and eager to please. They thrive on
mental stimulation. They can also be strong-willed at times,
however, and should thus be trained in a firm, fair and
consistent manner. Rottweilers respond readily to a clear
and benevolent leader. Rottweilers are playful animals who
may frequently demand attention from their owners if they
are not receiving the mental stimulation they desire and
will find creative and often destructive ways to get it if
they are excessively neglected.” (wikipedia.com)
